ICEL 9 (2023) – Guidelines for Abstracts and Presentations

The international committee of ICEL are inviting to submit abstracts describing original research related to science and practice of topics relevant to canine and equine locomotion. Abstract submissions will be reviewed and delegated into one of two types of communications:

  1. Full podium presentation – Oral presentations will be of 12 minutes in duration, 10 of which should be dedicated to presentation of the abstract information, and 2 to answering relevant questions from the audience.
  2. Podium 2 minutes presentation + Poster – Oral presentations will be of 2 minutes in duration. Questions should be asked during poster sessions.
  3. Poster presentation – Only electronic posters will be allowed. Please click on the e-poster button to find instruction on how to upload your poster. Note that the deadline for submitting your poster is 10th August 2023

Abstract submission

Abstract submission for ICEL9 is now closed.

The following information will have to be provided during the online submission:

  • Author(s) names.
  • Author affiliations as instructed (including institution and address, but omit degrees, titles, and institution appointments).
  • Title: not to exceed 100 keystrokes (characters with spaces)
  • Abstract body: Subheadings should not be included in the text; nevertheless, the abstract must be structured to include the following sections: 1) purpose/objectives; 2) methods (which must include statistical analysis methods); 3) results; and 4) conclusions (which should describe the relevance of the findings to canine and equine locomotion). The results should be presented in sufficient detail to support the conclusions drawn. Reviewers will be advised to reject abstracts that do not contain objective data, since it is very difficult to evaluate the suitability of these abstracts for presentation.
  • Declarations: Declarations must be made for each of the two categories below and will be performed by checking boxes in the online submission system.
    1. Ethical Animal Research: Indicate that research was performed according to appropriate review and approval from local or national bodies responsible for the oversight of animal use in the study in question. For prospective clinical research, informed consent from animal owners must have been obtained where appropriate.
    2. Consent to use personal data for the purpose of abstract handling and conference organisation.

Abstracts should contain original work that has not been published by the date of initial submission to ICEL9. The presenting author should be indicated clearly. Be aware that if this presenting author, or a designated co-author replacement does not register for the ICEL 9 conference by 5th of May 2023, the contribution will be removed from the programme and the published abstract compilation.
Authors may serve as the primary or presenting author on no more than two abstract submissions. Any additional submissions with this person as primary or presenting author will not be reviewed. Primary authors may, however, serve as co-authors on an unlimited number of additional abstract submissions as long as they do not present the research.

Abstracts must be submitted through OASES, the Wageningen Academic Publishers Online Academic Submission & Evaluation System
