FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 1st
9:30 – ICEL9 workshops (Academic Veterinary Hospital, Yalelaan 114, 3584 CL Utrecht, The Netherlands)
Available workshops:
- Equine kinematics (Elin Hernlund, Emma Person Sjödin, Marie Rhodin and Thilo Pfau)
Quantitative gait analysis in horses is a valuable tool for measuring kinematic gait parameters. During this workshop, we will introduce four objective gait analysis systems and will provide information on how they work, high-quality data collection & data interpretation. - Canine kinetics (Barbara Bockstahler )
In this workshop, we will show how measurements of ground reaction forces can be carried out in practice for dogs. What do we have to pay attention to in order to get valid measurements and how can we interpret the results? - Data analysis (Christoffer Roepstorff and Jeanne Parmentier)
After data collection, the time-consuming and sometimes complicated data analysis process starts. With this workshop, we aim to provide insight into the world of kinematic data analysis. How do we process and analyze collected data? What are the pitfalls and how do we get useful output? - Equine surface EMG (Lindsay St. George and Ineke Smit)
In this workshop, we will show how surface electromyography (sEMG) can be used in equine locomotion research. Some examples of questions that will be discussed are: What do we measure with sEMG? How do you collect reliable data and how can this data be used? - Horse-rider interaction (Russell MacKechnie-Guire)
The horse-rider interaction is a complicated but interesting interaction between two species. This workshop will provide insight into the biomechanics of both the horse and the rider and how these two can affect each other.
